You can create Construction Shapes that can be used in design validation work by computing the deviation from a shape to the point cloud. Use the Grid feature to create equally spaced lines or points from the 3D shape. 

Create shape properties window

You can create plane, several planes with offset, cylinder, sphere and elbow using this dialog box. The parameters of objects can also be later changed in the Object Selection tool.

Create Grid and Grid points

You can create grid lines and points in a gridded structure on the selected planes, cylinders, spheres or elbows. These grid-lines and grid-points are typically used to compute deviation, show the deviation lines and for export to Excel.
